- Types of EnergyTypes of energy can be categorised into two broad categories – kinetic energy (the energy of moving objects) and potential energy (energy that is stored).
- 10 Types of Energy and ExamplesEnergy is defined as the ability to do work. Energy comes in various forms.
Kinetic energy
Video: how potential energy and kinetic energy are harnessed to generate electricity through facilities such as the Aswan High Dam.
Potential energy is stored energy, whereas kinetic energy is the energy of moving things. In these examples, potential energy is transferred to kinetic energy.

- Kinetic energyKinetic energy is the energy of motion, observable as the movement of an object or subatomic particle. Every moving object and particle have kinetic energy.
Law of conservation of energy
The law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be stored, or converted into other forms of energy.
