The Romantics and Us with Simon Schama
Three documentaries hosted by British historian Simon Schama

Simon explores the elixir of rebellion and the idea that imaginative passion can conquer mechanical logic. He examines works by Delacroix, William Blake, Mary Wollstonecraft, Shelley and Gericault.
Episode Two: Chambers of the Mind
Simon reveals how the Romantics were the first explorers of the unconscious and examines the writings of Victor Hugo, the prints of Piranesi and the works of Coleridge, Wordsworth and Thomas de Quincey.
Episode Three: Tribes
Simon shows how the Romantics created the secular cult of national belonging with enormous world consequences. From the music of Chopin to the poetry of Burns, Simon looks at their rediscovery of tradition, folktales & myths.
